A 1970 All-American Selections winner, Waltham Butternut sets the standard. It has a sweet, rich and nutty flavor that improves when it is in storage. The tan colored fruit is uniform, with a thick cylindrical neck and an absence of nubs that makes it easier to peel than other winter squash varieties.
